The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
