Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
