Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
