The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 4 They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have bestowed upon you a Book that mentions you. Do you not understand? 10
