The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
