The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
