The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
