And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
