(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 “And with gardens and water-springs.” 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This has been happening all along. 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
