The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then looked he, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
