And mention Ibrahim in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet. 41 When he said to his father,* “O my father – why do you worship one which neither hears nor sees, and cannot benefit you in any way?” (* His uncle Azar.) 42 "O my father! Behold, there has indeed come to me [a ray] of knowledge such as has never yet come unto thee: follow me, then; I shall guide thee onto a perfect way. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 O my father! Lo! I fear lest a punishment from the Beneficent overtake thee so that thou become a comrade of the devil. 45 His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again". 46 'Peace be on you' he (Abraham) said, 'I shall call upon my Lord to forgive you, for to me He has been gracious. 47 "And I will turn away from you (all) and from those whom ye invoke besides Allah: I will call on my Lord: perhaps, by my prayer to my Lord, I shall be not unblest." 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 And We gave them Our mercy, and assigned for them a true and high repute. 50
