Nay, by the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
