Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
