The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
