And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
