S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Saad* By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 We have not heard this in the religious community close to our time. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, 14
