The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
