Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a high garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and had not known my account. 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
