I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning for people -- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until death approached us". 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
