The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
