And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 He abandoned his people 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or have you, perchance, a clear evidence [for your assertions]? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 They used to say: 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
