In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
