Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning unto humankind 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 in Gardens they will question 40 about the sinners. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
