The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
