I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 As a warning unto men, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 about the sinners. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
