The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
