The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
