The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and by the Book in lines 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the Visited House, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
