Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
