The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
