The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
