In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
