The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious- 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 With the help of Allah. He helps whom He will, and He is exalted in might, most merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfill His promise - but most people know [it] not: 6 People simply know the outward aspect of the worldly life but are utterly heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not reflect within themselves: Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with truth, and (for) an appointed term? And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord. 8 Have they not journeyed in the land and observed what wise hath been the end of those before them? They were stronger than they in power and they broke up the earth and they inhabited it with greater affluence than these have inhabited it, and their apostles came unto them with evidences. And Allah was not one to wrong them, but themselves they were wont to wrong. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of God, and they derided them. 10
