No! By the moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 As a warning unto men, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
