He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow in fulness. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe of God 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
