He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
