The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
