The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
