Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the daybreak, 1 And [by] ten nights 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And the night when it departeth, 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 Who were very tall like lofty pillars, 7 Like whom no one else was born in the cities. 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 And (with) Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who had pegs (who used to torture men by binding them to pegs)? 10 Those who rebelled in the cities, 11 So they made great mischief therein? 12 Thy Lord unloosed on them a scourge of chastisement; 13 Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me. 16 No! But you do not honor the orphan 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 And ye love wealth with inordinate love! 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say: would that I had sent before for this life of mine! 24 So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, 25 And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. 26 But ah! thou soul at peace! 27 return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. 28 Join My servants. 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
