The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ They ask you about the windfalls. Say: The windfalls are for Allah and the Apostle. So be careful of (your duty to) Allah and set aright matters of your difference, and obey Allah and His Apostle if you are believers. 1 The true believers are those who, when Allah's name is mentioned, their hearts quake, and when His verses are recited to them their faith grows, and who put their trust in their Lord; 2 Who establish worship and spend of that We have bestowed on them. 3 It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise). 4 This is like what time thy Lord had caused thee to go forth from thy house for a right cause, while a party among the believers were averse. 5 disputing with thee concerning the truth after it had become clear, as though they were being driven into death with their eyes wide open. 6 God promised you that one of the two parties would fall to you, and you wished that the one without sting should be yours, but God wanted to establish the truth by His words and cut off the root of those who denied the truth -- 7 in order that He might verify the truth and annul the falsehood, even though the wrongdoers hated it. 8 When you prayed to your Lord for help, He answered, "I am sending to your aid a thousand angels in succession." 9 God only did this to give you good news, and so that your hearts might be set at rest, for help comes from God alone. Surely, God is Mighty and Wise. 10
