And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 Do not betray me 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
