The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people together 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
