The Thamud gave the lie to the Messengers. 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Will you be left secure in that which you have here? 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit? 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 Who make mischief in the land and do not act aright. 152 They said, "You are only bewitched and insane. 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
