Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
