The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
