Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says: “I have squandered enormous wealth.” 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
