The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
