Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and neither known this my account! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
