Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In an elevated garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
