Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
