The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
